| First Week of October |
Well, Now I've done it.'Done what', you say? I've gotten into the 6.5% commissions tier in the first 7 days. Sure, I only grossed $52.59, but that is enough to pay for my ads for the rest of the month. September was dismal, by comparison. I only earned $65 and some change. August was pretty good—my best month yet. I earned $104.50. Do you think I'll beat August in October? HomewareWeb is a good domain for OctoberI didn't think I'd get a peak at the beginning of a month. Prior to this week, they've all been around the 15th through the 20th. So I'm hoping I can also pick up another peak around the middle of the month. Things have calmed down for now. But there are 2 reasons why I may have gotten a $50 weekly peak (which, according to the gurus at Associates Central isn't anything): 1: October SpiritSpeaks for itself. People are more spirited in October than September. School is well under way, and people might be furnishing their dorm rooms, cleaning up after the back to school messes, etc. 2: Ad Spending in SeptemberIn September I had more ad spending than revenue, due to an $11 mistake. 7Search.com doesn't allow to have a daily maximum, so I went well over my budget for one day, before canceling my ad. I was using the clickfree system, and had bid for a good keyword. One of the possible benefits of the clickfree system is that you get traffic directly to your site from certain domains. Those domains send you traffic based on what keyword you bid for. For a second I thought it was hokey, but when I ran my ad, I got plenty of clicks. Not only that, but coincidentally (or not), my Live.com search engine stats went through the roof. The moral of the story is: Advertising can boost your search engine rankings by a lot. But be careful with those outfits that don't have a daily minimum. You can easily spend all of your capital for little return! Start bids low, and then increase until you get the right level of traffic. Don't pay for all of your traffic. $1-2 a day is good enough to stimulate the search engines. Of course, this only works if you're out of the starting gate by about 6-9 months. |
