Design Approach: Guide to Services
How do I explain my project?
The best way to explain a project is to write a detailed specification listing your requirements. This includes what pages you want, what graphics you need created or are including, how to link pages together, etc.
I greatly encourage all communication to be sent via email. Concepts may also be discussed by using a net meeting, or if necessary, in person, at a convenient location.
Is signing a contract required? If so, what are the usual terms?
To prevent fraud, I usually prefer to write an estimate for the bid, and then when that is fully understood and accepted, I write up an actual contract. This protects both prospective clients and I. The terms of the contract are usually 30-50% payment up front--or with larger contracts, the terms are 25%-33% of payment due up front, and an additional installment half way through project completion.
Do you bid by the job or by the hour?
I usually present bids by the hour, but upon request will bid by the job. It is easier to estimate by the job if a detailed specification is given in advance.
What services do you provide?
Do you provide hosting?
While I am not a hosting company and do not own any servers, I know several good hosting companies that I can arrange to provide hosting for your project. Hosting costs can range anywhere from $3.95 a month on up, depending on how much bandwith, disk space, and CPU power you require. I do not recommend free hosting services as they tend to be slow and error-prone.
Can I see some of your previous websites? Please see our Portfolio Page for a slide show of projects done by Design Approach.
